Hwan-Jin Kim, the beloved founder of Smart Diagnosis, was more than just
a visionary leader; he was a devoted son, a loving father, a caring friend, and
an inspiring mentor. Born in Kongju, South Korea, Hwan-Jin's journey was marked by his relentless curiosity, passion for technology, and deep commitment to education and innovation. His dedication to these values continues to inspire us all, motivating us to strive for excellence in
our own pursuits.

Early Life and Education

Hwan-Jin's love for learning and technology blossomed at an early age. At just 11 years old, while in 4th grade, he received the prestigious Presidential Award, an honor that led him to be invited to the Blue House, where he had the extraordinary opportunity to meet President Chun Doo-hwan. This remarkable achievement set the stage for his future endeavors and instilled in him a lifelong passion for innovation.

He went on to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in Mechanical Design from Seoul National University of Science & Technology in 1999. His academic journey continued in Australia at the University of New South Wales, where he earned an M.A. in Engineering in Manufacturing Engagement and Management in 2002. His thirst for knowledge led him to achieve a Ph.D. in Management of Technology from the Korea University of Technology and Education in 2013. His dissertation combined Transaction Cost Economics (TCE) and Resource-Based View (RBV) approaches, showcasing his innovative thinking and dedication to advancing technological alliances.

Academic and Professional Achievements

In 2014, Hwan-Jin joined the Korea University of Technology and Education as an Assistant Professor, sharing his vast knowledge and inspiring countless students. He designed and developed curricula for technology innovation courses and taught Strategic Management to postgraduate and undergraduate students. His influence extended beyond the classroom, as he engaged in projects to develop technology innovation policies for ICT-based SMEs, sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Science ICT and Future Planning.

Founding Smart Diagnosis

In 2018, Hwan-Jin founded Smart Diagnosis. Under his leadership, the company developed the innovative Cardivu, which measures heart rate variables using pupil movements, and other cutting-edge solutions like TestWith and i-Vu. These innovations have transformed online exams and learning concentration analysis and set new standards in the industry, ensuring fairness and personalized learning experiences. His forward-thinking approach and dedication to cutting-edge technology have made Smart Diagnosis a trailblazer in AI-based solutions.

Professional Journey

Hwan-Jin's career was marked by significant contributions to various esteemed organizations. As the Team Manager of Planning and Promotion at the Korean Green Promotion Agency, he was crucial in drafting business plans, conducting feasibility analyses, and managing renewable energy projects. At the Korea Energy Economics Institute, he managed the Secretariat of Green Growth and Low Carbon, planning budgets and promoting renewable energy initiatives.

His international experience, including serving as the Director of the Industrial Cooperation Department at the European Union Chamber of Commerce in Korea, where he negotiated pivotal contracts and facilitated international partnerships, is a testament to his global impact. His impressive career and the pride he brought to our industry are deeply appreciated and will always be remembered.
